HTML-Kit inserts the default document template when you create files by clicking the "New" button on the Toolbar. To create a completely new document that doesn't include the default template, hold the "Shift" key while clicking the "New" button. The default document template can be modified by changing the content in the "Edit | Preferences | Startup | Insert following text" field.
