HTML-Kit Build 292's Preview in Preview feature makes it easier to test pages in Internet Explorer mode and Gecko mode side-by-side. This document describes how to enable the Gecko preview mode. Gecko is the page rendering engine used by Mozilla based browsers such as Firefox and Netscape 7+.
Method 1: If you're using the Firefox browser or if you don't plan to use the full version of the Mozilla browser suite, the following steps can be used to enable the Gecko preview by installing the standalone version of the Mozilla ActiveX Control:
Method 2: If you plan to use the Mozilla browser in addition to the Gecko preview, the following steps describe how to enable the Gecko preview by installing the full version of the Mozilla browser.
- Download the *.zip version of the Mozilla browser from one of the following links:
- Create a folder for Mozilla files. For example: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla.org\"
- Unzip the *.zip file to "C:\Program Files\Mozilla.org\"
Select "Run" from the Windows Start menu, enter the following command line and click "OK." The RegSvr32.exe utility, which is used to register the Mozilla control, should display a message similar to "DllRegisterServer in MozCtlx.dll succeeded."
- regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Mozilla.org\Mozilla\mozctlx.dll"
To test the Gecko preview mode, restart HTML-Kit, open a HTML file, switch to the Preview tab and click "[Gecko Mode]" or "[Vertical Split]."
